We Urgently Need Volunteers This Winter!!!
This winter, when the temperature reaches 15 degrees or below, an Emergency Warming Center will operate at the Community Compassion Outreach Center. This warming center will be open to all persons who are experiencing cold and need a warm place to stay from 7 pm to 7 am the next morning. When it’s 15 degrees and below, people living in homes with little heat, sheltering in cars and tents will have a safe and warm space rather than suffer in the cold and risk serious injury or death.
Community Compassion Outreach, Neighbors in Need Alliance, Manna Soup Kitchen, and the Red Cross are working together to make this happen. But without volunteers, this critical need cannot be met.
We need people who are willing to spend time staying at the center. Shifts of 4 to 12 hours will be available. Orientation and training will be provided.
You can make a critical difference to fellow Durangoans this winter. You can help keep people safe and cared for.
