Our staff discussed the desire to have a monthly prayer focus for every month of the year. We want to bring our congregation together in prayer and to experience the power of prayer in our community.
The prayer focus for the month of September is Discipleship.
Matthew 4:19
And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
John 8:31-32
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we come before You in awe and adoration, praising You for Your glory and majesty. We thank You for Your love and we desire to see Your glory extend across the face of the earth (Habakkuk 2:14). We acknowledge Your sovereign power and recognize that it is through Your grace that we can participate in Your mission to the world.
Lord, we confess that we have fallen short of Your standard. We have failed to fulfill the Great Commission and make disciples of all nations. We have been distracted by the cares of the world and have pursued our own self-interest instead of seeking Your kingdom with all of our heart. Forgive us for our shortcomings, and help us to truly repent of our sins.
